Atherton Bikes launch new and improved A.130 build specs – including new Sram Options.
The Atherton A.130 is the benchmark for short-travel descending; perfect-fit delivers easier climbing and transforms confidence and riding progression.
In common with the rest of the A-series, the A.130 offers 22 standard sizes for perfect-fit matched with lightweight strength, enormous versatility and a lifetime guarantee including Bike Park usage. It’s Atherton CEO Dan Brown’s chosen home bike and Rachel Atherton’s pick for exploring Dyfi’s backcountry trails… inevitably ending up with a bike park descent! The A130’s perfect blend of performance for trail-focused riding makes it a firm favourite with Atherton’s growing base of less gravity-focused customers, many of whom report posting PBs straight out of the box.
Atherton offer a selection of recommended builds which customers can buy through their website or use as a springboard to customise their own dream builds.

“My A.130 will take me anywhere, long days in the saddle are comfortable and less tiring with perfect-fit a huge advantage for pedalling position and good traction on even the most technical climbs. On the descents, the A.130 is always composed and predictable even at high speed but it maintains the playful feel that characterises all our bikes and it will eat up a lot more of the rough stuff than 130 mm of travel would suggest!” – Atherton CEO, Dan Brown
Atherton customers unanimously agree. BBC cameraman Martin Souter has been riding the Peak District’s rough and rocky trails twice a week for over 30 years. He took delivery of his A.130 custom buiId in Dec 23 choosing Size 10 (470 regular) with Rockshox ultimate deluxe 130mm/ lyric 150mm, Hope Tech4/E4 200/180. Shimano XT drive train, DT Swiss xm481 rims on Hope Pro 5 hubs, Continental Kryptotal, Brand X descend dropper, Renthal bars/stem and a Burgtec oval front ring.
“The quality shines through. Because the bike fits so well, it really is an inspiring ride straight out of the box. I have felt quicker and more confident on some of the trickier stuff we do. I’ve been looking for more features to pop off!” – Martin
Andy Prior rides both Surrey Hills trails and Dyfi Bike Park. Andy chose Fox Factory suspension with 150mm upfront. (standard build 1) He said of his first ride at Dyfi:
“The A.130 never missed a beat. I never once felt it was out of its depth. It loves steep rocky descents, it loves speed, it loves corners and kept me on it when both tyres were sliding in the grease, oh and side note it’s super quiet too, no cable rattle, love that!”
